November Insights from NSAR Chief Executive

This December, we are hosting our Annual Meeting and Skills Symposium at the historic Foundling Museum in London. I invite all NSAR members to attendĀ the AGM, and Skills SymposiumĀ and hear from industry titans, alongside Explorer and Presenter Simon Reeve!

Please note that the AGM is for members only.

RSN’s nextĀ Fireside ChatĀ will be on the 3rd December, and I have the pleasure of joining Ed Thomas, partner at KPMG, at their lovely offices in London to discuss all things finance in rail. I encourage you to come along and bring your colleagues in the financial team to hear what the future holds for the industry, and to voice any questions you might have.

We are excited to have partnered with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver a 2–6 week work experience programme for young people aged 18 and over, and I encourage you to take part as a host organisation, at no cost to you. This initiative is an excellent way to bring new talent into the rail industry, whilst giving your employees the chance to develop their leadership skills by mentoring participants.Ā Find out more here.

As you know, NSAR has joined forces with GBRX to create a ground-breaking new apprenticeship programme focused on driving digital skills into the rail industry. We are about to announce the flagship event to launch the programme and answer the industry’s questions, so make sure to keep an eye out.

In policy news, the government recently released its Post 16 Education and Skills Strategy, which aims at upskilling the UK workforce and better meet the needs of employers, including those in rail. Take a look at the key changes announced and what this means for the rail sectorĀ here.
