Former RIA Director General, Jeremy Candfield passes away

It is with great sadness that we inform you that former RIA Director General, Jeremy Candfield, passed away on Sunday 1st November 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Jeremy joined RIA as Director General in 1998 and over his 18-year tenure transformed the organisation into the go-to trade association with a membership of 200+. He helped establish RIA as a prominent voice within the railway supply chain enabling it to be viewed as an integral piece of the post-privatisation rail jigsaw.

NSAR CEO Neil Robertson said:

“Jeremy also held a Director position at NSAR and was central to establishing our skills agenda. He was responsible for my recruitment into the business and maintained a fervent supporter of our goals. Many of our members have fond memories of Jeremy as he often commented government and rail do not always mix! His warmth, candour, and considerable knowledge and experience have left an indelible mark on the industry. Rest well Jeremy.”
