Northern searches for new railway talent

National Apprenticeship Week continues and Northern have marked the occasion with a search for new railway talent. More than 300 young people are part of the rail operator’s apprenticeship programme and are employed in a variety of roles across the business. This week Northern is looking to add to that number with applications being accepted for 24 roles available as part of the 2021 apprenticeship intake.

Tricia Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Northern, said: “Whether they have an interest in engineering, train planning, the control room, HR, customer service or any of the other roles our staff carry out, our apprentices learn their craft from experienced colleagues while taking their first steps on a career that will keep northerners on the move for years to come.
