The managing director of Network Rail’s Digital Railway, David Waboso, will retire in March 2019. Chief Executive Andrew Haines stated that Waboso was leaving with a “fantastic legacy” and a “clear direction for delivery through CP6 and beyond.”
Responsible for projects including boosting the use of digital signalling and train control technologies through the Digital Railway Programme, Waboso joined Network Rail in 2016, after working as an engineering director for London Underground. Waboso received a CBE for his services to transport in the capital and his central role in leading the Underground’s largest ever upgrade, the Jubilee Line extension.
A further announcement on the transitional arrangements and his replacement will be made in due course.
