I’d like to warmly wish you a happy and prosperous New Year and thank you for your support on the skills agenda in 2017.
In 2016/17 STAT’s work enabled the creation of 2,000 apprenticeships across road and rail and it has driven commitment to many thousands more. This is a great foundation for continued collaboration across the transport infrastructure sector.
I especially enjoyed discussing our shared challenges and opportunities with you at our November event. There was a real appetite to collaborate on tackling diversity; on driving our shared values through our supply chains; and on working together to make sure the reformed apprenticeships work for us.
We will be setting out further work in these key areas and the STAT team will be in touch again shortly to invite you and your teams to take part.
In the meantime, you will, of course, know that 2018 is the Year of the Engineer and this will give transport and the wider engineering sector a real boost. Many of you are involved already and for those who’d like to find out more, further detail is below.
The National Skills Academy for Rail (NSAR) have also extended membership of their NSAR Connect service to all SMEs – free. More information on this is also below.
I look forward to catching up with you again soon. With all good wishes for 2018.
